Rev. Sammy is a wedding officiant who brings a lighthearted, easygoing tone, with just the right amount of sarcasm to take the edge off and make it easy for couples to be in the moment during ceremonies. He believes that when people feel comfortable, emotions flow naturally, and couples can let go and be fully present, which makes that special moment ingrained in your memory forever. He loves learning about new cultures and practices, and has performed ceremonies for LGBTQIA+, Secular, interfaith, and multiple religions.
Sammy was inspired to become an officiant after his own wedding in 2022, which was officiated by his father — a seasoned officiant who has performed over 700 weddings. 2 separate couples who attended his wedding asked Sammy to be their officiant. From the very first 2 ceremonies, he was hooked. Performing these 2 ceremonies for his friends in 2022, Sammy immediately fell in love with the whole process.
Being able to facilitate an unforgettably beautiful & meaningful moment, helping the couple to relax and be fully present, and laugh along the way gave Sammy so much joy. After seeing how much those couples & the guests loved the ceremonies, he decided to pursue officiating professionally. Now, with over 100 ceremonies behind him, it is his favorite profession.
Sammy has also coached soccer for five years, after playing at the collegiate level at Biola University, and worked as a farmer, growing and selling gourmet mushrooms at farmers markets in California. He is also a published author and continues to write today.
In his free time he also loves singing & playing guitar, running Dungeons and Dragons for his friends and family, meditation & yoga, and playing literally any type of board game or sport (He dares you to challenge him in Catan). Sammy is based in Baltimore, Maryland and performs ceremonies all around the area, including Washington, D.C.
